I ran this thing hard the first time I used it and it stood up to the heat. The metal I was cutting would burn your hand by the time I was done cutting (and I did that several times), but this tool held up just fine. That is all I can tell you at the moment, but I am pleased, so far with my purchase. I think I didn't get the correct blades for cutting metal (although they were advertised for cutting metal.
